Chen Style
Tai Chi is a deep neverending river of knowledge, which
has been accumulated and cultivated for more than four centuries.
Chen style Tai Chi Quan (Grand Ultimate Fist) takes its
name from the Chen Family who live in Chen Jia Gou (Chen
Village) situated in China's Henan province, about 2 hours
from the Shaolin Temple. Chen Style Tai Chi is the original style of Tai Chi but there
are five others - Yang, Sun Wu, Wu (or Hao) and Wu Dang.
There are many stories and tales of how Tai Chi came to
fruition, some believe Tai Chi came from Wu Dang Shan
and others believe it came from Shaolin Si and then followed
on to be developed in Chen Jia Gou. Unfortunately there
are no records or any strong evidence to tell us Tai Chi's
real history.
Chen Style Tai Chi was developed nearly five centuries
ago and has slowly grown to become popular today throughout
the world.
Chen Style was kept hidden for many years as the Chen family
would only share their accumulated knowledge with their
close family members.
In the early 19th century a renowned and respected Tai Chi
master Chen Fa Ke began to teach Chen Style Tai Chi in Beijing.
He was universally well liked by all his students and disciples,
and sadly passed away in 1957.
There are now many Masters and Grandmasters throughout
the world spreading the teachings and power of Tai Chi,
namely Grandmaster Chen Zheng Lei and Chen Xiao Wang.
Chen Style Tai Chi is characterized by its spiraling and
twisting energy, explosive Fa Jing exploding energy and
strong formidable stances. |
