Competition: Team Shaolin

Today Shaolin Culture entered into the first Team Shaolin Competition held at Swiss Cottage.

Team Shaolin has been created in order to standardise the level of Shaolin Kung Fu that is being taught outside of the Shaolin Temple in China. For more details visit the Team Shaolin website.  The Competition was open to all schools teaching Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu and Chen Style Tai Chi or any individual students thats study these disciplines.

The event was held at a lovely sports centre in Swiss Cottage by host school “Tang Long”. We started a little late because the Jubilee Line was shut down and some people had difficulty getting there, but it was really well organised and once it got going it ran like clockwork.

There was a good turnout and the standards of the competition were very high. The categories were divided into; Traditional Shaolin forms, Chen Style Tai Chi forms and Weapon forms. To view the categories in more detail take a look at the  Team Shaolin Application Form.

Shifu Heng Yi, representing Shaolin Culture had 4 of  the schools students competing, the youngest being 12. Between them they won 6 medals, which we are extremely pleased with considering the standards.

We at Shaolin Culture would like to say a great big thank you to the team at Tang Long for a lovely day and making us so welcome.
