Humility: A form of controlling your feelings of pride and satisfaction, as a Chinese saying goes - "humility gains, pride looses".

"There was once a bamboo sprout which popped out from the ground and instantly looked upon the sky and said to itself - "I have been told nobody can reach the sky, I do not believe this to be true". He felt if he kept on growing he could surely touch the sky. 10 years, 20 years passed by, the sky was still far from his reach.
Finally he came to the realisation, and began to bow down, and the more he understood the lower he bowed."

This famous fable is saying to us all that we should always be humble, and realise that "there is a sky above a sky, a talent above a talent, and a person above a person". We must learn to become humble and realise that however good we believe we are there is always somebody above us. This is the way we grow as martial artists and learn to respect our fellow brothers and sisters.
We must remember there is no limit to knowledge. However deeply one penetrates, one can always go further and there is always a person more knowledgeable than you in some field.

"Humility gains, Pride looses."
"The taller the bamboo grows, the lower it bows."
