Heart Patient
Hi, I study Chen style Tai Chi and Qi Gong at Bromley with Shaolin Culture, I have also practiced Judo, Karate, Aikido, Kendo and I have also studied the history of unarmed combat and I am an instructor in these arts.
In 2006 I had a very big heart attack and being a frontline ambulance man I knew what was happening… So here we go chest pains impending doom, the whole lot, my crew mate picked me up and off to Kings College hospital we went two weeks later I’m home again. I then heard about Shaolin Culture in Bromley and got enough courage to attend on a Tuesday evening. I was very impressed and went on to join,
I informed Shifu Heng Yi of my past illness and that sometime I also have a memory block, forgetting to learn something or taking time to get thing right, also the heart attack left me with a bit of left sided weakness and I needed a little bit of patience, then disaster struck and I lost my nerve to attend classes however I still practiced the forms and movements that I had been taught everyday at home, and even during these time Shaolin Culture helped me through these times by sending emails and giving me so much to live for even though I had only been a member for a short while. My consultant gave me the courage to pick myself up and return to classes, which I did and have done for more than I year now, I also love studying Qi Gong and finding out more about the Tai Chi forms, each movement and why I am doing them.
I have lots of help from both Shifu Yang and Shifu Heng Yi and the students of the school and over time everything has improved. After getting home from class I feel relaxed and stress free…
This story is dedicated to the Shaolin Culture Tai Chi club.
